Whatever rocks your boat I suppose... but I still maintain that whichever filter brand you use... if you change your oil at or before the service interval you will not have a problem!!

There speaks a man who has never owned anything with a Triumph 1300 or 1500 engine.
Cheap filters on those = many hours changing bearing shells.
The XUD filter position suggests that a good anti drainback valve would be a useful thing to have.

Just as another source of the purflux filter:
If your local motor factor supplies Motaquip (which many do) a VFL 427 comes in a motaquip box, but is a purflux unit. The VFL 208 is dimensionally identical, but is badged as motaquip, and has no anti-drainback valve.

Thanks for all your help on the subjecy.
I was in the local GSF today talking Oil Filters.
I asked them how much those Citroen Badged ones where ?
Opened the box..........Guess whats inside PURFLUX.
The quality of these for about a £1 more compared to the rest.
So you can still get your filters from GSF just don't ask for Purfulx they will tell you they no longer stock them.
Ask for the Plain OE Box with the Citroen Badge on...Bought 3 just in case.

It makes a difference with 2CV. The flat twin aircooled engine runs a very high oil pressure compared to most engines and have heard of and seen failures with champion - fram and halfords filters fitted to them.
Never seen a problem with purlux. As with michelin radials they were designed for the car.

Quite right, it was a Dolomite 1850... I don't wish to labour the point but I haven't referred to 'cheap' filters my point on both posts for clarification is that if the filter 'meets the required manufacturing standard' then what the heck... it's suitable for use.... if the vehicle manufacturer specifies to the filter manufacturer that it must have 'drain back valves', then that is the standard of filter whatever the brand.
