I'd just feel for a wear ridge and if significant, replace them. Sometimes a wear ridge can make drum removal difficult as the shoe catches on it...

Cheers Jim nice tip there, I'd say this little car belonged to someone who just threw it into a garage when things were needed doing to it as im not really seeing evidence of to much being undone and broken off here and there (like some diy merchanics can do)when I was cleaning the car about a few days of my ownership under the back seat I found a usb stick, on the stick was all church services , sermons and so on , i thought then is the the modern turn to the old bible in the glove box 😆

Rear shoes purchased with pre built kit all in just under 50 quid .

NEW PROBLEM.
Water getting into my door pocket , where to look for the pathway of the ingress. Any one had this at all ?

I'd plump for the actual window seal allowing water into the door which then seeps through the handle aperture ? :)

Think it might be door card off or sit in a car wash and see what happens 🤔

Tinkering for a couple of hours today as weather was great , an investigation into this knocking noise, so I undid my work took the shock back off, that was fine, the hub nut wasn't as tight as I thiught it would be so I checked it, it was under 170Nm... im thinking hold on that should be 270Nm ? Anyway I that got tightened up plus some grease under the cap , I no, some say don't but I'm thinking 🤔 old times we did, I then hit my head on the heat sheild on the opposite side , it was flapping the bolts were rotten and the nuts long gone, enough about me , back to the car 😆... I got 2 10mm nuts and they went on ... so im off out now , test drive as I got to pick wifey up , update later 😉

Update, the knock is still there,my test that has ruled out the rear shoes I applied the hand brake and the noise still carried on, ive dug up a few options to check.
Parcel shelf, fuel filler kneck, any heat shields, hand brake cables in any housing locations, so thats my check list that I can think of so far

The sound is like a plastic rattly knock , I did hit the rear bumper by hand and a noise that sounded similar came from behind that , maybe a wire loom rattling against plastic ? I will find it , just need some free time.

Under 170 Nm sounds pretty slack to me.
I've not got a book of lies for 207 but from memory Peugeot hub nuts more likely 325 Nm or something of that order.

Heat shield - I made big penny washers from bits of old number plate, good for that sort of thing.

Parking sensor wiring runs inside the bumper, though surprising if it can make enough of a noise to be heard.

no parking sensors on this on, the bumper connects to the wheel arch liner , behind the liner is the fuel filler kneck , the kneck runs down to tank, here's where it got interesting, I got the under the car earlier on some waterproof tiles , where the filler kneck goes to tank its close to the rear axle beam , the beam is covered with a plastic cover , this cover has now been taken off by me , as I was removing it it was making a noise very similar to what I've been hearing, the ammount of muck under this cover was shocking, so another job to my list of to do, rust treatment.

Rust proofing needed on the rear axle, what's the best way you have tackled this sort of thing? Best rust treatment? And paints ?

Purchased for £88 from £115 with the help from a coupon on ebay from car parts in motion 2 rear brake hubs with the bearings pressed in so I now have all the new front brake parts and complete rear brake parts too . Just need decent weather and a free day.
