Gosh Richard! I think that tyre has seen the best of its days... And I think you got your money's worth from it ;)

Another good ride for me today and my longest in a while :)

I have just watched a bit of the Lincoln Grand Prix men's bike race. I do not know how they manage to ride so fast and so close together, over cobbles as well in parts. Some time a go I looked up average bike speeds and a 30 year old is about twice that of a 60 year old so might explain a bit of it. However, that would make them around 20 mph compared to me so there is more to it but I notice Jim was 15 mph average in the previous post and that would put them up to around 30 mph.

Yes, how they ride it is amazing Paul... And quite scary too! One wrong move and they all go down like dominoes... The cobbles just make it even more so!

A photo from the Lincoln race just after the start near the castle. There are 13 laps of a circular route so next time round they were spread out a bit.

Magic! I'll be photographing a TT race this evening and trying out a new lens :)

Photographing a bunch of riders like that is quite tricky, as it is a bunch of runners...

Photographing TT riders is easier as they are well distanced from each other - they start at minute intervals...

Cracking photo Jim, our club in the late 50’s had a 25 mile and 9 mile TT. The 9 mile included two good hills, one of them was used as the club hill climb, obviously not very long, we’re talking Lincolnshire here! The 25 mile one was on the flat fen roads so a few of the lads could get under the hours but it could be hard if the wind got up. Happy days.

Happy days indeed Maurice :) I love TT racing and can't wait to be on the other side of the lens again... All signs suggest it won't be very long before I can now :D

A bit more Time Trial racing photography last evening :)

I deliberately positioned myself low-down in the grass at the top of a hill just before the finish line. The riders were feeling the pain

The lens I was using, a fairly newly acquired image stabilising medium telephoto, has produced some quite nice bokeh* as well as doing a good job of this sort of photography :D

* Bokeh, pronounced "boh-keh," refers to the aesthetic quality of the out-of-focus areas in an image, particularly the blurred background.

I can remember marshalling a TT in the centre of Bourne when a rider stayed close to the curb and ignored shouts and waving hand, five minutes past before he reappeared. He was the only one out a field of over 30.
Great photo again Jim.

Very happy to complete a 50 mile ride on Tuesday :D The good thing was that I could have carried on for much longer...

We had to take on fuel during the ride....
Yum!

Last evening, I was in what has now become my usual Wednesday place - crouching by the road capturing the the thrill of TT racing
