A bit more thirsty and the tax band will jump up to about £210 Nigel, as the CO2 is about 172 ish on the 2.2. - but then better than a pre 2001 car over 15.49cc at £235 I suppose!

Look out a 2.0 in either form.. dont settle for a 2.2.. the al4 on 2.0 8vs is perfectly fine. The aisin is better and newer and 6 speed over the zf..

Its worth the wait.

We have an 55 exclusive 2.0 16v auto in.. currently non runner .. needs a set of injectors.. which we have but i need to find time to get and sort it out..

The 2.2 would do a better job of driving an auto box.

Just noticed that the ad says 136bhp not 138bhp could this be a facelift with the old box?
or a typo?

Yes, it is. Driving a 4HP20 in a 407 it is excellent and I understand driving an Aisin in a C5 it is even more excellent...

How can a gearbox that needs removing and dismantleing to have a filter cleaned or a electro valve for lockup clutch changing be better... ? :?

Because it gives you a lovely opportunity to thoroughly clean the engine and bay and do the cambelt and water pump with ease ;) :D

Plus you'll only have to do it once in the car's lifetime and second and most important; it's fun and immensely rewarding...

As I said originally, it's excellent :D

This I'd getting down to personal preference now. Let's assume the garage doesn't have the space to lput and engine on the floor. Blimey there's a 90Bhp c5 estate on autotrader. 2001.

I can understand that as my xantia 90 is great without the cat in it but useless with it. It drops to about 75 bhp taking into account age and wear and tear.

I have a C5 MkI 2004 VTR estate, and I do like it. It has a lot of toys, and I have added a couple more to her. She is comfortable, cavernous and economical.
