Ignition switch mod or check the connector on the motor unit. It had melted on my S1 Activa..

Look at the sticky on this subject and get a multimeter in there...
If ignition switch it can often be proved by wiggling the key around.. Sometime the blower will start and stop with the wiggling..

The "Key Wiggle" gives zero result.

What plug is it on this ............ BB10 ?

and the things you do to a (recovered) thick steel work top, it needed a rust converter, so a pattern it was
(will rub wax in tomorrow).

Looks strange ... everything being the 'wrong' way round as though you'd reversed the pic

Fans working.....it was a poor connection on the brown plug.
All cleaned up and protected with wax contact preserver....
Will do the mod another time.

That's the connector I mentioned. It's been a while and I couldn't recall what colour it was.

That is not the Cruise Control control plug (wrong colour and shape and not enough wires).Stickyfinger wrote: Plug 2....what is this spare plug for ?....cruse control ?

Is it not the instrument light dimming rheostat connector?
If your car has wiring for cruise control, there should be three wires going to the brake light switch (at least on the car side of the connector).

Re: I am an Activa owner...a V6 and I am an addict
Please you found the problem Alasdair
I had a poor connection on the brown plug on the blower once and I could just smell it burning...
Keep an eye on it as if it's been hot the spade connector in question often looses temper and can make a poor connection all over again..

Re: I am an Activa owner...a V6 and I am an addict
Zero signs of heat Jim............ which is one reason why I put it back together.
As the fans have been on AUTO and I have not needed Fans (so had not used the slider) I think they have not worked this year
I feel these "niggles" will happen as the car has gone from a dry life to a damp one, hence my habit of using the wax contact preservative spray in every electrical block I touch or can get at.

Re: I am an Activa owner...a V6 and I am an addict
The fan will have worked Alasdair. You would have known if not as a Xantia is practically impossible without a blower running. Without it there is no airflow at all in the cabin and the windows steam up something rotten... Plus no heat just when you might need it..
