Re: On my walk.
Good luck, Gibbo. It might well be worth getting the gearbox reconditioned first, as that will include changing the transmission fluid and fitting a reconditioned torque convertor, and should then let the gearbox go for 150,000 miles before it needs another major service.

I hope that for the sake of your sanity that all the little bits to go with auto box are either in the car or arrive with the replacement box. The chances are fairly high that you'll get to a point and find that there's some vital bit missing.
Good luck.
Good luck.

You're probably not wrong there Paul but it's wait and see, I think most of the stuff is here and the box is coming from someone who's only just started breaking the car so hopefully anything missing will still be in his possession.

Gearbox just arrived, a couple of days late (well it always is
) Courier said "it's heavy" "Yes" I said "93 kg according to the manual" "It says 35 kg on my load listing." says he.

He should've listed it as 39kg, then at least he could claim dyslexia when the courier comes for the extra money

Re: On my walk.
Lifted the box into place today...........they weren't kidding when they said it was heavy.....and awkward, a real sod to line up and close into position.
Seems I'm a few bolts short, or rather too long
the bell housing bolts come in a multitude of types and lengths and they ain't all included in the goodies collected with the car.

Re: On my walk.
Gibbo did you have another search in the field just in case there are odd nuts and bolts about?

Re: On my walk.
Box is all fitted, had a bit of a problem with no fuel coming up, it was the primer bulb holed so replaced that, Citroen only supply it as a part with the whole dual pipeline so it had to be an Ebay aftermarket part adapted to fit.
Had to lower the suspension by the bleed off valve because it didn't want to do anything through the controls, when about half a litre was out the pump started so it looks as though that's not going to be a problem
Turned the key and it fired up, no problem with the engine it seems despite not being run for near four years.
Set up the date and time stuff on the display.
Put the left hand drive shaft in yesterday but keep getting rained off so it's going to have to wait now until probably Wednesday before I can do any more.
You don't need to drain the gearbox on these for the drive shaft jobs they've designed it so it's sealed.
Brakes will need cleaning up, rusty disks etc. but they're not badly worn and the pads have plenty of meat left on them.
The bolts were all there Dave once I was able to sort out the sizes.

Re: On my walk.
Thanks for the comments....the luck may yet change though
It hasn't been dropped onto its wheels and given a run and that second hand gearbox from a breaker could yet turn into a dud. Fingers crossed.
