Re: Picture(s) of the day....
and this Week we have had a Maker's name fiesta on
Its all done and dusted on that personal challenge, apart from the "O's" but Opel or Optare may supply that soon if I keep my eyes peeled.
Neil
It was never an A-to-Z, and the thread remains live for contributions, but I did set myself a challenge of coming up with original photos for each letter. The Maker's Name-Close up Original Photos only.
Started here Page one Post One, and open for business and photo's in perpetuity.

This didn't make it into the Falcon 26, being a model name rather than a makers name.

Its a nice enough image though,

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Today I took 41 pictures. Some I have already splattered on other threads. Regardless of repetition rather than try to logically choose a picture for POTD off to random.org to select one.
Have to say thanks to Citro Jim for his contributions which have helped to keep the thread just within credibility with at least one new picture each day over the last few days.
It was definitely heading for a blank today, hence my own random intervention which has chosen image number 10.
Fields of gold Neil

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Tenuously related to your fields of gold yesterday Neil, here's me running across a crop of hay
Running through deep ripening hay is quite challenging. Not easy at all!
I'm not damaging a farmer's crop. This is Bury Field Common where the very long grass was mown a couple of days ago.
The hay, due to dog-poo contamination is of no agricultural use so it goes for biomass and is likely to be burned to generate a bit of electricity...

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
The exclusive participants of the thread since Saturday have been Jim and yours truly.
Just a reminder the thread title is not "Citrojim and the Falcon's Pictures of the Day". I would stress its is not compulsory, but however fascinating pictures from Jim and me are, POTD is a better more interesting place if a few others take part on a habitual basis.
Here's a couple from Yesterdays 41 from me That tree trunk gorgeous bit of driftwood with superb colour and grain, weighed a ton and was un-drag-able off the beach so it remained in situ where it had washed up, fittingly adorned with a named brick.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I never go anywhere nor do anything. Most of my photo's are taken from an upstairs window. Limited now by the trees that hide any interesting activity out there.NewcastleFalcon wrote: 13 Jul 2023, 09:28 Just a reminder the thread title is not "Citrojim and the Falcon's Pictures of the Day". Makes having five cameras rather silly.

Yesterday was an outing with my granddaughter and her mum
Youngsters of her age are notoriously difficult to photograph when they are as lively as she is! I took about 20 and got 4 good ones...

POTD Reluctant Computer Fixers Club
One of those confidence sapping, "looks like I'm going to have to take the laptop to bits" moments. Followed by find a new fan from somewhere, to try and fix it.
Well thanks to Tech Guru on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H03gzUTJqwg), I have fixed it. Yes, in my own less than professional way, but no new fan needed. Did end up, as is customary, with a few screws left over. Unlike in the video, the back of the laptop didn't remove with a couple of inbuilt clips to facilitate its easy removal, but required the unscrewing of loads of those little screws. To make matters worse they all had the tell-tale blue of thread locker on them. Very useful for breaking the femmer little "sockets" they screw into.
For moving pictures and music entertainment purposes for new viewers to the FCF, reminds me of this Spitfire engine strip down and rebuild video nicely put to the Hall of the Mountain King by Grieg...very appropriate punchline at the end of the 2 minutes!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
The good old days Neil when we used to actually do those jobs instead of just dumping a works engine or used engine in or scrapping the car.
