Hi can anyone help with a diy repair on an air conditioning system on my 306 D turbo?
I only bought the car recently knowing that there was a fault on the air con with the intention of repairing it or getting it repaired. I thought it may be a simple regas but when the guy came to gas it up, he found no gas at all in it and so pressure tested it. There was a leak on one of the aluminium pipes near the radiator (the larger one). He didn't sort out leaks and referred me to a garage who quoted me £100's!!!
I'm thinking of sorting it out myself. I've managed to put together a makeshift pressure testing device and know exactly where the leak is. The problem that I have got is joining rubber pipe to the metal aluminium pipe. The factory fitting uses a special type of crimping tool which is too expensive. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks everyone! Andrew

Is your car a series 2 306.
The problem is the road salt rots the alloy pipes that run along the bottom of the radiator. Making them permiable to gas.
There are 2 of them and they will both be shot.
I have had to replace mine and wasnt impressed with the prices quoted either. So i brought the crimper.
