Xantia Rear Brakes

Unread post by blueboy2001 »

Is it necessary to depressurise the hydraulics on a Xantia when changing the rear pads and/or discs? I've done the fronts ok without, but the Book of Lies says to do so on the back.
If so, why?
Cheers.

Well -
It should not be necessary - since you wo'nt have any pressure in the brake lines - unless you press the pedal.
Maybe the Book of lies just wants to be sure that nothing happens - if you do something thoughtless - like removing a suspension cylinder to get at the brakes [:p][:p]

I don't know about the disks but I just did the pads on mine without depressurising. After doing the job about a million times on BXs and Xantias I didn't even read the manual.

Agree with Anders and Homer - I also replaced front and rear pads on BX without depressurising. But, nobody mustn't press the brake pedal during the replacement, otherwise you can get your fingers squeezed!
