If I do purely stop start all month I don't get a lot more than you, but if I do a couple of decent journeys it sipps fuel and the mileage shoots up.

If the air cleaner is disconnected it probably won't affect the vehicle at all, and indeed may actually improve performance as there is no drag imposed by the filter. However these things are there for a purpose and its purpose is to prevent abrasive particles getting into the cylinder bores and causing premature wear.
Driving in the damp probably won't do much harm, driving on hot summer days in sandy areas may.

Do you get excesive smoking (soot) out of the exhaust if you put your foot down? Could be still thinking its cold; is the cold start enrichment playing up?

On rotodiesel pump the cold start device (waxstat) fails in the hot position. Somehow I think the Bosch will as well as the cable contracts when cold.
In fact if I disconnect it on my BX TD the engine just starts very slowly and is prone to stalling. Set properly on ZX 1.9D hot idle is 750 and cold is about 950. (Bosch may be faster)

Just out of interest, what range do all you other Xsara HDi owners get from a tank?

My Xantia TD does around 600 miles on a tank. 350 miles from brim to brim would indicate 25mpg. 25mpg indicates a serious problem.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
