405 wiper linkage

Unread post by Chris3005 »

On my 1983 405, a ball and socket joint in the front wiper linkage has fallen apart. This connected the short radial arm on the bottom of the passenger side wiper with the horizontal rod which moves it.
Has anyone else had this fault, and how much of the linkage will I need to replace?
Thanks
Chris

If you get it from a scrappie you might as well replace the lot. Was the old one rusted?

Thanks, guys. I think it's failed due to a split rubber gaiter that holds it together, in which case I though that anything from a scrappy would probably be about to fail as well. I'm ecouraged by PowerLee - I'll talk to the Pug dealer tomorrow.

It needed a new horizontal con rod - £13 for both sides. Just push on the new sockets onto the existing ball joint. PowerLee was pretty much spot on, allowing for inflation - thanks.
