Xantia 2.0 Power Steering Inconsistent

I have a '95 Xantia 2.0
Recently, the power steering felt slightly different.
On turning the steering wheel, it's like a momentary lack of assistance, then a slight surge as assistance returns to normal.
There are no obvious leaks.
Anyone had a similar experience ?

Yes!
Dirty LHM - give it a hydraflush cure (including filter clean) and then add new LHM oil to the hydraulics.
