zx volcane head gasket

Unread post by Stu »

Well since my last post I've taken my recent purchase to the local family run garage for inspection, They think it's the head gasket or to be more exact the oil run part of the head gasket, (he showed me on a pug engine that he was in the middle of doing) Seems logical as this is where the oil was leaking very well from.
Now I have been told he'll strip it down and have a look but if the head is cracked it might not be worth fixing. I only bought the bloody thing on Saturday ! I'm not giving up on it that easy if I can help it. in the 100 odd miles I drove it, I liked it ! it did go rather well too, So does anybody know where I might be able to get a referbished head or second hand ? and are the pug ones the same ? I'm just in case my luck get's even worse !!

Also guy's I've been reading through the post about changing boost pressure etc and the ability to get 115 bhp out of these engines, So IF ! I'm lucky enough to get away with just a head gasket, ha JUST, then can I turn this into a postive by using an uprated gasket to increase the boost pressure ? better head bolts ? anything ??
thanks

Not all Head Gaskets are created equal, look around for an all metal Payen one, they are around thirty pounds.
