Xantia HDi Excl Aircon Problem

Hi. I have a problem with my '99 Xantia HDi Exclusive. When the aircon is swiched on no fans will run and the red light on the temp gauge and the stop lamp will flash together. After a few moments one of the fans will cut in at full speed and put out the warning lights. The fan will eventually cut out and the red lights will come on again. The system is providing cool air at all times. Many thanks

wait till the engine is totaly cold & check that the both cooling fans can turn freely by hand,one of them my be partially siezed of if one of the fan motors is faulty it will cause this problem,the other fan cuts in at high speed to compensate for the other one not working.if both motors are ok one of them may be missing a feed or earth possibly due to a faulty/corroded relay.
