While filling with fuel a while ago I rather startled a guy at the next pump when as the car lowered with the weight of fuel going in it began to rise and settle at it's correct height. Nice touch that.
When this stopped happening I checked the height control linkage and found it stuck plus by now, 5 years old, the acc sphere was tired. Freed off the HC linkage and replaced the acc sphere and all is back to as new.
Hence if the car does not rise <i>without</i> the engine running, with adding a tank of fuel (the estate needs about 75lbs to start this off) - query the acc sphere and HC linkage.
