My citroen zx 1.4i misfiring a bit from a cold start in the morning. However yesterday when starting it from cold and letting it idle, and then revving it to about 3000 - 3500 rpm I noticed that the engine seems to go on to three or two cylinders and chugs a bit, this is accompanied by clouds of smoke being emitted from the tail pipe which is a sort of bluey black colour.
After a minute a two it seems to clear and runs sweetly again. Oil consumption is minimal, added a little yesterday after 2000 miles, as it was slightly below the max mark.
