squeely heater

Post by StuartR »

My heater fan just screeches when you turn it on. If you put it straight to full speed occasionally it stops after afew mins. It must be some bearings in the fan that need changing or new grease. Is there a way of getting to it from below, under passenger side glovebox, or does the dash have to come off, if so I use a rag and freeze cos I'm not to keen on that.
Any ideas or past experiances much appreciated.

which car do you have???
I've had this with 205s in the past quite a bit, with them it is accesible from in the passenger footwell, three screws or something and it drops out. a bit of grease sorts it.

Sorry its a 205 D 92J reg
So are you sure its that easy, just the 3 screws at the bottom you say.
Will try if you say it won't just fall apart or something.

looks like its worked, ta
it does mention when tou look close in the haynes that you can get to the motor seperatly, noticed now!
by the way any one else trying this, undo the 3 screws and lower the motor, you'll then need to undo the 2 center screws to pull out the motor from the plastic case(the cable at the base needs to be pushed in to allow the motor out)
I think the clip at the base of the motor is the worst so I used wd40 and pushed in some grease, also wd40'd the other end through the motor with the straw.
honest its worth it for the peace
