Cits in Oz....a pictorial account.

Post by alan s »

Went to an Australia wide meeting of Cit nuts at Maleny in Queensland on Easter Sunday.
For the information of anyone thinking of having a trip or backpacking their way to Australia, next Easter it will be held at Canberra which temperature wise would be about line ball (or a bit colder) than where you come from.
Just to give you some idea of the variety & quality of what we have out here (remembering that Citroens only make about 2% of National new vehicle sales) as well as the depth of committment to the marque by enthusiasts, I've posted a link to Shane Leviston's photo gallery of 103 pics; hope you enjoy.
BTW, my car, the BX 16V is the white one with the bird impaled on the windscreen.[}:)][}:)]

What a superb turnout, for a country with so few Citroens imported theres a great variety of old and new. Who's is that wildly painted D model?

Yeah, ya got me in one!![}:)]
BTW, here's "The Bird" that I took out at a great rate of knots just before I got there & managed to impale it on the windscreen wiper.
It had so many pics taken of it that all we could say was that it gained postumous fame; it was "just a bird" in life but a "celebrity bird" on my windscreen.
I can honestly say to my wife that "I picked up a bird on my way to the Cit-in" with no more than a comment about me being a cruel #$%^&*! as though I lined it up & zapped it on pupose[:D]
Wives are like that[:0]

P.S. Almost forgot; The "D" with the psychadelics belonged to some who had called into the "Byron Folk & Blues Festival" on the way through.
Byron Bay would be about 3 - 4 hours drive away & is where Paul (Crocodile Dundee) Hogan & his mates own a couple of pubs & developments etc & was the home of the surfing community in northern NSW. It's not that far from Nimbin which was Australias Woodstock where all the hippies "dropped out" back in the '60s. The area has never lost its reputation & in fact a recent TV special went back to Nimbin revisiting all the old drop outs that had dropped back in, made it good & went back to their old stomping grounds. It's quite common to go to Nimbin & be offered a joint from a geriatric pickled brained hippy as you window shop, complete with the old two fingers & "peace brother" to ad realism.
These days, the festival is more a Yuppies weekend than a hippy one but those folk just for a laugh, painted the D as it would have possibly looked had one of the flower people from round there had owned it; they were neither hippies or yuppies; just hard cases [:D]
