Old FCF Wiki Xantia PDFs

Unread post by Old-Guy »

While hunting for Sphere tables recently, I was reminded that the old FCF Technical Wiki section vanished some years ago.

During the 11 years we had our 1995MY Xantia 1.9 SX Estate (the Green Lady) I contributed a number of Xantia-related PDFs to the Wiki, all of which are in my digital archive transferred to successive laptops.
In the coming weeks I will edit, update and 're-publish' each of these as a separate post under this topic. Corrections, criticisms comments and suggestions welcomed.

My digital Xantia archive also contains some articles by other members that I downloaded for my own use. With the Moderators agreement I'll post these as they stand.

I'll try to publish them in some sort of logical sequence.
2012 Subaru Forester - capable but no magic carpet
2011 Grand C4 Picasso VTR+ 1.6HDi - not missed!
1995 Xantia Estate SX 1.9TD in Vert Vega "The Green Lady" - sadly missed
1998 Xantia 2.1 VXD Estate in Mauritius Blue - R.I.P. (terminal tin-worm)

#1 Xantia Tools

Unread post by Old-Guy »

Xantias and other Citroëns of the '80s, 90' and noughties require a number of tools not provided in many standard tool kits: e.g. 16mm deep hexagon socket (N/S top engine mount) - remove the rubber 'gripper' in a 16mm spark plug socket; 12mm deep-crank ring spanner (XUD glow plugs).

This started as part of a personal list in my wallet for Tool Sales and other likely sources of tools; if I'd had it when we first had the Xantia, I might have bought tools more economically and would have saved a number of shopping expeditions in the middle of a job just to buy one socket or spanner.

#4 XUD & XUTD Cam Belt Change

Unread post by Old-Guy »

Specifically the 1.9 TD but I believe the 1.7 is identical in this respect.

Thanks for sharing these again.

For the benefit of newer users, the forum had (for several years) a wiki where technical data could be shared. It was not a great success as only about 5 people ever contributed and most of them gave up after a while due to to difficult user interface. It was taken down because despite its limited use, it took much more site maintenance than the rest of the forum, and we could not leave it running without current security patches. We do have backups of the data.

Wiper Relay Repair

Unread post by Old-Guy »

Probably not just on Xantias! I didn't think to look at the XM's rear wiper when I had the hatch lining off to fit a reversing camera. Yes, I know; Heresy to the purists, but it makes parking in tight spaces much easier and safer. Oh, and it can be removed without trace to restore the car to original condition.

Xantia Relay Identification

Unread post by Old-Guy »

It's not an exhaustive guide, as I've only worked on three Xantias - all estates.
