Hi all,
Van: 2017 Citroën Relay 2.2 HDi 130 (*Ford Puma), about 155,000 km. Continental/Siemens piezo injectors (BK2Q-9K546-AG). I'm using a Lexia 3 clone with Diagbox.
Background: a remanufactured set of 4 injectors was fitted in September with new copper washers, seals and return o-rings. The codes written to the ECU were the supplier's test-report codes (9ELLEE, CCFPML, CEMRPH, DFFTRM). Since then it has had a heavy idle, dark grey smoke on cold start, black smoke on acceleration.
What Diagbox shows:
- Number of complete programming cycles: injector 4 = 345, injectors 1–3 = 0
- Engine-off injector actuation test: all four pass
- No engine fault codes stored (only lighting-related faults)
Questions:
1. On this engine, should the counter climb on all four injectors after coding and normal driving? Does 345/0/0/0 mean learning is being rejected on 1–3?
2. Cylinder numbering for coding: is cylinder 1 at the timing chain end or the flywheel end? The codes were entered assuming cylinder 1 is at the timing end. I've since been told it's the flywheel end, which would mean they're reversed.
3. Does re-writing the codes reset these counters?
4. Does Diagbox offer a running cylinder cut-off/balance test or a forced injector learning routine for this ECU? If so, under which menu or version?
I plan to do some warm overrun runs (2600 to 1600 rpm, off throttle) and recheck the counters, then try the codes reversed. Before I do, I'd appreciate input from anyone who's seen this pattern.
Thanks

I can confirm that Cylinder 1 is at the flywheel end and thus they need re programming but that is all I can offer I'm afraid!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

@mickthemaverick
Thanks.
Yea. So I've read/been told, although some of the Relays are ISO ordered from the timing chain 1-4 I believe? Mine is the Ford Puma with VIN starting in VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].. etc.
It's very odd that only injector 4 is cycling all the same.
Thanks.

Turns out the injectors are 1-4 from the timing side, in this case. Image attached of fault when I unplugged injector on Gearbox side (right when facing it).
The issue was the post coding procedure. Up to 2600rpm and no controls down to 1600rpm, first in 3rd gear a couple of times, then in 4th gear. Ill probably repeat the process tomorrow just to fully tuck them in. The result was no rattle under load, and actually had some pull. Next up determine whether my dpf cracked when the EGR cooler cracked internally a while back.
Hope this helps someone, as I couldn't find anything on this.
