What's your standard computer? Mac? Windows? Linux? What version of whatever one you have?

And what's your general computer proficiency?

I hope I'm not coming across as rude; I don't mean to be. I'm trying to work out exactly where you're at to see if I can assist you - before I say anything else.
Cheers,
Andrew

No worries. I know you are only trying to help. I am only reasonably competent with computers. I began with a laptop running W98 back in the late 90s. I managed to skip the worst of Microsoft's troublesome rubbish and have assembled a desktop PC running W7 which is has been purged of bloatware and telemetry and is totally stable and reliable. I realise that W7 may one day have trouble dealing with some browsers or important websites so I have built a backup PC running Linux Mint in case I have to escape Windows totally.

I only have the fuzziest idea what a Virtual Box is or how it works but it appears to be the only way I can access the Peugeot Service thing. I bought a usb stick on ebay that was supposed to contain everything I need to access the info. The detailed instructions do not show what I see when I attempt an installation and after maybe 20 or so tries I have managed 3 or 4 downloads that only progress to about 13% before failing. Game Over.

I vaguely remember something about needing 32 bit and not 64 bit for service box but not sure which might be a reason for needing a virtual box. I first had it on Windows XP which was 32 bit and when changed pc the new one had vista which I think is also 32 bit. The pc I use all the time is Windows 11 and have never tried to put service box on it. The vista one is now used just for storage of photos and service box and I no longer connect it to the internet as it is not supported against viruses.

A search came up with this
--------------------------
Legacy Offline Versions (DocBackup / SEDRE): Older standalone desktop versions (such as the 2013-era offline software) were originally built as 32-bit Java/Tomcat applications. They typically require running inside a 32-bit environment or a pre-configured Windows XP virtual machine to function properly on modern 64-bit systems like Windows 10 or Windows 11.
--------------------------------------------------
The SEDRE bit has the wiring diagrams, the doc back up has the procedures and parts diagrams.

There might certainly be some clues there. The SEDRE part would be helpful to trace the masses of wiring that deals with the retractable roof rams, etc.
The 32bit/Java issue is worth looking into. Thanks again. I will post again if I get any closer.

I have just finished trying every combination I can think of. Installing every item found on the usb stick in every different order and never get further than 13% of an installation. I have wasted more than enough time. I can only assume there is something wrong with the contents of the usb or my PC is just not up to the task.
Many thanks to all the members who have tried to help.

I got my lexia from easydiagnostics, windows 11, didn't use virtual box, it used virtual machine (VM) and it was smooth sailing as they provided everything on a piece of A4 paper to tell me what to do, but yes my son helped me..... Did you mention SEDRE? Maybe mickthemaverick could help?

When I was setting up my forum PC to download the Servicebox and Sedre backups I asked xantia_V6 for his advice on the system I would need and this is an extract from his answer which you can compare to your system to see how it stacks up. Other than that I cannot really offer much help as I just followed instructions at the time!! :)

..........but the 64GB SSD is not big enough and the 250GB HDD is too slow. .................I would say that 100GB of SSD is a minimum.

In addition I would advocate at least 16 GB of RAM as the software can be slow. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

I have 260 Gb free space on my SSD and 16Gb of RAM on a Windows 7 Pro 64bit desktop.
I been Googling "Peugeot Service Box Download" for the last couple of hours and there seem to be a lot of people offering it, but a lot look like fakes or copies of other sites. Prices vary from about £10 to $100. I have been ripped off already so I just don't know what to do next.
