New Renault 5

It's the first R5 I have seen. It's gorgeous in my eyes, in that yellow. If I were wanting a small car that could tempt me. However it's highly unlikely I shall ever have one as i wouldn't want an electric car. It's just possible I could have a hybrid, but for that car a 1600 to 2000 16v petrol making it a hot hatch and it would be perfect.

At least the front doesn't look like it has had a shunt as many of the BEVs do!! :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Most electric cars look silly but that one just looks good!

The girl next door has one and I must admit for an EV it does look nice. I have an aversion to EV's generally the over weight bloated behemoths that they usually are.

I lust after a yellow R5 and I'm just patiently waiting for my van to catastrophically fail so that I can justify buying one ;)

And the yellow seems very close to the Renault F1 team colours when by complete chance I saw the first modern era turbo engine victory at Dijon in 1976. Jarier and Arnoux, Arnoux 3rd with Villeneuve second in a 3l non turbo Ferrari. Immense final 2 laps, worth a watch on YouTube

The new one is a really good looking car. The Nissan Micra BEV is the same floorpan and engine but not dressed as well.

And just to continue the nostalgia-fest, my R5 Gordini. Had it a bit over 2 years then my needs changed radically, long long commute and lots of 600 mile weekend round trips to elderly relatives so I got a very early BX19RD. The weekend trips were quicker in the BX - the Gordini had a pathetic range between fill ups and a petrol stop saved more than made up for the performance sacrifice.

I had an R5 in that shape Richard, just a lowly TL on a T plate...

I always thought they looked a lot more attractive and good-looking than their successor. Very rare now due to just how much the tin worms loved them...
