Why should we, if there's money to be made by the fuel importers, and pass the blame to someone/thing (Brexit), why not make it?

Have a look especially the 'Highlights' tab

The funniest thing about this whole mess is the greedy UKG who decided years ago on set rate for fuel duty to keep the coffers high and protect against lowering costs, now its went crazy high and they still get same amount no increase! I bet the treasury are fuming they could had reamed us even more if they had not gone down that route.
Of course good old VAT still gets them a very healthy cut of the pie, does make you wonder is this the intention remove VAT on electricity but retain on fossil fuels, but then reclaim the lost VAT by pay per mile oh I am sinical I know lol

Whilst useful, these comparison sites can help petrol stations make sure their prices are not too low without having to drive around them. Another way of having a monopoly so they can all charge similar amounts. A bit like supermarkets price matching with Aldi, why not have lower prices so Aldi can price match them.

The PM keeps being asked if they will do something about high fuel prices and his answer is always to wait until the budget - in other words we want to enjoy the extra tax being taken through the VAT on the price rises. There is another rubbish argument they have made that as people pay more for fuel and its VAT, they then have less to spend on other things so VAT is lost there so no net gain.

My Mrs used to work as a 'petrol petroleum engineer', posh for being the person who you pay after you fill up because they push the go button for the pump to start. And yes, part of the job included ringing local stations for prices so they were competitive. So Google isn't really going to change much.
