307cc door handle

Unread post by Expertamateur »

This is a question regarding the "common" fault with the 307cc door handles. There's another thread about it but as its a year old I thought I would start fresh. There is a sensor (oh no, not another) in the door handle that senses when your hand is about to open the door. It automatically drops the window a small amount, just enough to allow the top of the glass to drop out of the rubber seal at the top. Then when the door is closed it raises the window to engage with the seal again. When these things go wrong you find the window going up and down randomly as you drive. I am new to this car and I'm getting sick of this happening and thinking maybe I should have bought something else. I don't want this to happen while the car is parked, it rains a hell of a lot here in Brittany all the time so its not a great car for this region. Someone on the other thread said that the part number for the handle with the sensor is 9101X2. This is the only model of 307 that needs the sensor so I could easily buy the wrong one. I assume ordinary 307s don't need to drop the window first when opening the door. Can anyone confirm this is the correct Peugeot part number for my 307cc (cabrio) petrol 16v 143hp. Thankyou in advance for any comments or advice.

Edit: And are they handed? (left different to right)
And it appears that the part number 9101X2 is loosely used to describe any 307 handle of either side and even doesn't necessarily include the
sensor section included in the handle shown in the exploded diagrams. So anyone deciding to order using just this number is only rolling the dice.

If you provide your VIN I'll check the part number for you. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

The Door Handle Holder are different for each side
The Door Locks are different for each side
The Door Handle that contains the sensor is the same for both sides.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Nearly two years later and I'm still trying to fix faults. Now I have found a new door handle with sensor I wanted to tackle the fault. I can't work out how to remove the old handle. Spent literally hours trying to find a Youtube clip showing how it is done but there (as usual) is very little help when it comes to the Cabrio version, the only one with the sensor. All I could find was an 11-second video of some clown holding the sensor loose through the back window, squeezing it with his hand and showing the window move down a bit. Very helpful.....not!

Does anyone here know how to get the old handle off the door? All I can manage is to get the little plastic trim removed from around the door lock.

Update:
Once I got the door card off (without damage) I waded through several more Youtube vids and various nuggets of advice I finally got enough information to tackle the problem. I managed to get the new door handle fitted and working properly. The window now drops to clear the top seal at the first touch of the handle. Two final comments. (1) It was a pig of a job due to extremely limited access and the only illustration of the critical area I could find was apparently drawn with the inner surface of the door cutaway. Doing the job requires sticking a bright light inside the door, and peering through an 8mm hole to see where you are poking a screwdriver to disconnect the door handle before it can be removed. (2) The passenger door needs the same treatment but I will not be doing it. In the unlikely event that I get a moderate win on the lottery I will pay some other poor sod to do it for me. That is if a new one can still be found. Most new parts for the 307CC are no longer available.
