Fuel prices

prices local to me actually fell today back down to 199.99p had been up at 201.99p

Still brutally high, if i travel 10 or 15 miles i can get that down to 190.99 or 192.99, but not on my route so not sure be any saving doing the extra miles.

I can not understand how even across same brands eg ASDA or BP how there can be such a large difference a penny or 2 maybe bit 10p per litre c'mon

Costco still best at 188.9p but the ques are crazy and really out of my way only worth it if going there

It all depends which refinery via local depot they get their fuel from and their pre-contracted prices....price nr me prices are mostly very similar as there is only one (they add their "special spices" or bullsh1t--- Hello Shell and Esso !) as the fuel is pumped into the tanker. The only difference in the base fuels is the octane value from what I understand.

yeah if we were talking about 100 miles apart fully agree, but I am referring to greater Glasgow that only cover about 15 or 20 miles, hard to believe they come from a different source, more likely local competition as prices are very similar in close proximity.

In my area here is a list of difference between different branches of same brand or franchise, so VERY unlikely different source.

ASDA 4p per litre difference within 7 mile radius
TESCO 7p per litre difference within 13 miles radius
JET 11p per litre difference within 10 miles radius
SAINSBURYS 6p per litre difference within 7 miles radius
ESSO 8p per litre difference within 16 miles radius
MORRISONS 2p per litre difference within 10 miles radius
GULF 10p per litre difference within 17 miles radius
SHELL 4p per litre difference within 12 miles radius
BP 3p per litre difference within 15 miles radius

Given the short radius I find it hard to justify the price differences, if they can sell it cheap in area A why not in area B?

Not been past it recently, but the BP station right outside the gate at the Grangemouth refinery was always 3-5p / litre more expensive then everywhere else! Not like it had to come far...

Saw 2€96 for diesel on the motorway just outside Lyon last Tuesday. You'd need to be on fumes or on a comapny card to touch that
