P0335 crankshaft sensor fault, struggling to diagnose

Even though you mentioned there was a 'perfect scope pattern' I would be inclined to go back to the crankshaft reluctor ring and change it. Good luck!

When I get to the point I can not solve a problem as a last resort I will use the dealer to fix it. Cheaper than scrapping the car and buying another one. Our local Citroen/Peugeot dealer now charges about £160 for a diagnostic, not cheap but they might reduce it if the bill to fix the fault is high and a couple of times when a fault was not found they have not charged.

I’ve ordered a matched ECU/BSI/key and lock set… also ordered a replacement BSM… I figure replacing these rounds a few things out

I couldn’t see any voltage drop last time I checked but I’m thinking it could be the reference 5v dropping (powered from ECU), or a bad ground. There is definitely fluctuation somewhere given the last scope image I uploaded. Question is what’s causing it

If anyone has a wiring diagram for the ECU, it’d be appreciated.

After speaking to the dealer they wanted £249 for diagnostics and the first hour, when I talked through what I’d already tested they suggested I’d most likely be looking at £249+vat per hour for a further 4-5 hours… basically more than the car is worth. (Around £1500 in total for diagnostics) - this was in discussion with both front desk and a (apparent) master mechanic.

They suggested a new engine loom at £1300+fitting (even though I’ve replaced the sensor wiring and there’s noting pointing to the loom). Their repairs cost more than the car would be worth.

I’d love it to be a them problem but it’s just not financially viable

£300 an hour to try to fix your car, that is almost as much as our private dentist charges (about £500 with the cost of a filling vs time taken). Sounds as if they are wanting to rip people off by double charging for labour and diagnostic or do not want the work.

Beware that when you swap the bsi your car will probably take the higher mileage of the donor car or yours, even if you then fit the old bsi back. Also the radio will beep until it is coded to the replacement bsi.

Thanks Paul. Ah, didn’t realise about the radio… Milage isn’t a concern as my mom will keep it until it’s scrap… any info on how to code the radio to the BSI? Is this user do-able I have a Topdon 800bt, and also ELM327 wired to USB, but no Citroen software (usually work on Ford’s)
