SAT Nav

Unread post by Gambit »

Has Citroen in say the last 6 months updated the SAT Nav installed from new in car.

My Citroen C3 mk2 2015 1.6 Hdi Blue 100 Hatchback has started to 1) the arrow on the map does not point to the direction of travel, its very slow to move and 2) in the top RH corner of the display screen when it shows a direction coming up it now speaks the name of the road you turning into and displays it - my wife says its new and im not imagining it.
I have not updated my maps for a very long time.
Im wondering if they have changed something and the sticky direction arrow will dissapear with a new map update or has something happened in space to confuse the sat nav ssytems.

Regards

Over the air (OTA) updates were not a part of the systems fitted to cars at that time so the cause of the change must lie elsewhere. Has the car been in for a service at a Citroen dealer recently? They might have updated the firmware as part of the service. Otherwise it must be a matter of something that either you or your wife have done. This will be changeable by going into the system setup and having a look at the options available if it bothers you.

Maps can be updated but we need to know what system you have fitted. I suspect it will be either an RT6 or SMEGx unit fitted. RT6 units are controlled entirely by buttons and rotary controls; SMEGx units have a touchscreen interface for all control. Have a look at this section to see if you can identify it, although there's no photo of a SMEGx there. viewforum.php?f=44

You say that you've not updated the maps for a very long time. How long ago is that?

The last two updates were 2022-1 (Central Europe, Eastern Europe North East. Scandinavia, South East Europe and Eastern Europe North West) and 2023-1 (taly, France, Spain/Portugal, Benelux, United_Kingdom and Germany). That would tie in with your two to three years ago. These are the last two updates that will be issued by Stellantis however there is an unofficial update and details can be found here viewtopic.php?p=869317#p869317

As to your original question, it must have been something you did, or someone who had access to the car (kids?) did. If it's not actually sending you the wrong way, and you can't find the option to rectify it in the set-up, I suggest you live with it. :-D

Paul Hi
I presume its the RT6 one i want and others have used it and it works?
Ive gone through all the settings bits and looked at it very carefully it appears that the worst offender was the scale shrink/ enlargment now Ive pulled it back its behaving more sensibly.

I haven't tried them myself but I presume so. With the genuine map updates RT6, SMEG, SMEG+ and SMEG IV2 all use the same file and access different bits of it as required.
