DPF Advice Please

Seems the DPF on 2018 1.5 DS7 (approx 69k miles) needs replacing. Mechanic says it has likely split or cracked after too many local journeys (yes I'm guilty!) and failed exhaust regen cycles. It smells like an old dirty diesel car when I stop and the exhaust is full of soot and countdown clock is on 50 miles before won't start.

So I am in the process of sourcing a new DPF. Initial searches led me to Ebay but I smelt a fish and glad I dug a little as I now know after-market can led to fingers beign burnt!

I believe I should:

• avoid units that contain Cordierite

• look for units that contain Silicon carbide

• check for OBD compatibility

Is there anything else to consider or avoid?

I read that NAP is a premium aftermarket brand and had my eye on this:

I'm fully aware that PO may have fitted a low quality after market unit, this is the unit and on the barcode it looks like it says: 9822400080. Does this look like the original or aftermarket - any way to tell?





Any thoughts or further advice. Once sorted I will change driving habits!

I had the same situation on my past Honda CR-V i-dtec engine. I removed the DPF unit and cleaned by myself with hot water (many times in cycle) and cleaning agents. I took a day long. After the cleaning process it was like a brand new unit. I dont know what is the legal situation in UK but here also there are many mechanic shops doing cleaning dpf by machines

Edit: I didnt pay attention on your post. I got the issue as clogged dpf. Now I see that it is cracked. So it seems the only way is new dpf unit.

No I didnt see in the photo. I commented as you mentioned on your post . Can you see inside with flashlight ?

9822400080 is the Citroen/Peugeot part number so not a copy part and if you search on it you can find the part. A quick look sees a new one is well over £1000. I have read that dpf failure on the 1.5 hdi engines is known to happen.

Don't know why these break, but they do seem to. The one in that photo looks suspect to me - outlet pipe appears sooty?

Given they break anyway, and aftermarket one may not be too bad for this engine - don't know though.

The countdown to no start is an AdBlue problem - which is separate ( and more ££...)

The Adblue tank was changed 12 months ago already, I was led to believe the Adblue warning I am seeing currently is because the filter is broken making the sensor for the Adblue trigger... I hope!

Needs a diag scan to see what the SCR is upset about. It may be that soot has blocked up the NOX sensor, but then it would probably want to be replaced.

If you are buying used, then ideally you would see it, and do the outlet check with a finger or paper towel for any soot - at the very least if you are buying one remote I would get the seller to do this and send some pics.

I hadn't realised that they had gone back to the DPF on the front of the engine on the 1.5 - the 1.6 Blue has only a CAT in there, with the DPF / SCR in a separate can underneath.

Hello. I don't think that replace of Dpf will bring a result in the long run. Main reason is a leaking injectors. My friend had a similar situation. Around 65k he get's error of effectiveness of AdBlue system. First only error, then after some time this error starts to triggering a countdown. Problem was with 3 leaking injectors. I had a similar situation.
Dpf started to regen every 150miles (blue diode in the mirror helped with seeing how often Dpf is on regen). So far I replaced 1 injector. Helped a bit but at least 2 more are dodgy. The quality of Bosch injector are poor. Look at mine after 52k
