P2032 C3 Mk2 2015 1.6HDI Blue 100

Unread post by Gambit »

Hi all
Recently changed CAT on this car as flange on lower end had de welded its self and a nice crack all round increases exhaust sound way above MOT pass!

As its such a pig to get to and no idea if 2 temperature sensors were going to be stuck I changed them as well .

A few weeks later I get a warning come up and its P2032 , I thought It was these sensors and found I had not connected the plug joint thats on top of the Alternator bracket properly.

So connected it and it locked ok, cleared fault and its been ok since.

Today I had to fill up with Adblue, the first time since the adblue tank was replaced just over a year ago.

I stuck diagnostics on to tell it I had filled abblue tank and found the same fault P2032 but there was a temporary flag on it.

Question have I got the right place ie the lower one in the CAT or is it further along the exhaust pipe by the DPF??

I noticed on the diagnostics that there is a bit where you can tell it you have changed a part or topped it up, so I told it I have changed the CAT and Sensors and the Adblue tank and re filled it.

I have not tried it again yet just want to be sure Im looking at correct sensor position. At £55 I dont want to replace it in nessasarily , If I can find my way through the diagnostic box I should be able to read a temperature / voltage what can I expect as a value?

Thanks in advance for any replies

It is not looking like anyone has anything to offer but this post will at least bring your query back to the top of the Unread Posts list and someone may see it and offer some advice . Good luck :)

You don't have to use a diagnostic machine to tell the system that the Adblue has been filled, there is a level sensor in the tank for this. Are you mixing this up with the Eolys system used in the DPF?

What message came with the P2032 DTC message?

Paul
It says temperature of the ehaust gas downstream of the pre catalyst. Voltage of the component too low.

If you can try to plug in the old sensor (maybe with it still in the old bit of exhaust) and see what happens before buying another one. Was the new one a cheap copy part ?

So you agreeing its the lower sensor in the replaced CAT ?
Unfortunatly the old sensors went with the old CAT.

Was about £55 from Auto DOC theres both sensors one in top of CAT and one at bottom there both finished with a 4 pin plug/socket with an integeral fixing clip under the Turbo cooler hoses mounted on alternator bracket.

I have not checked if the fault has returned since a run yesterday - it does not put a fault light up on the dash, so must check before I go splashing out on a replacement

Ive just run diagnostics after yesterdays run of 2 x 25 miles and the fault is not there.
Have now checked and run engine whilst watching temperatures on both sensors, top one started at -20 and the bottom one at 14 degrees C running the engine made them both change and go equal and past 50 deg. I dont know what temp readings I should expect, the ambient was 22 degC

Well -20 can't be right in the current weather!

I think we've seen something about these sensors before and replacements not being wired correctly or something. I would expect the upper one to rise quickly after engine start as it is measuring exhaust gas temp ex the turbo; and the lower one, once the Cat is warmed up, to be hotter than the top one to show that the Cat is operating.

Yes I recall that some makes wire the upper and lower oposite, I checked mine and they were as per the original, it was said that the 2 values are added together then averaged so it did not matter if they were reversed
