Replacing tensioner bolt, but no chain and rails

Unread post by kralj98 »

Hello all,

I would like to replace this part on my car. Do I have to block cams or do anything specific while doing so? I watched a guy on YT doing it, but since he is French and I dont speak french, I dont know what he said during the operation. Visually, he just unscrewed old tension bolt and screwed in new one.

Help me with this please, thank you

part in question:

It is not looking like anyone has anything to offer but this post will at least bring your query back to the top of the Unread Posts list and someone may see it and offer some advice . Good luck :)

Can you post a link to the YT video? It's usually possible to choose automatic translation to subtitles.

In the Haynes manual for the C4 with the vti engine it says to lock the timing/cam shafts before removing the tensioner but that is as part of replacing the timing chain.
How many km has the car done as timing chain wear is common on the vti engines, our C3 needed one at about 80k km.

A search found a possibly relevant topic for checking chain wear with a link to a BMW procedure for the same engine. In it the cam shafts should not be locked but the timing needs to be locked.
