Electronic parking brake defective c5 x7

Unread post by adnanali »

Hello fellow Citroën enthusiasts,

I'm having trouble calibrating the electronic parking brake on my 2008 Citroën C5 X7. After replacing the brake cables to the calipers, I can no longer calibrate it. Before replacing the cables, I could hear the electronic parking brake working, but it wasn't engaging due to the faulty cables.
I replaced the cables, rerouted them exactly as they were, and tried to calibrate it with a diagnostic tool, but without success. I only hear two or three clicks in quick succession at half-second intervals, then the diagnostic tool throws an error.
The error memory indicates that the brake is locked. There are no other errors.
My suspicion is that the old brake cables failed due to a defect in the electronic unit and were pulled out of their guides.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can calibrate the brake?

P.S.:
On one side of the electronic parking brake, the brake cable is simply hooked in, while on the other side, it's screwed in. How much does it matter how far one side needs to be turned in? I've attached a photo.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome along!

Did you put it in the service position first?

Hello Richard,
I simply lifted the car and from the bottom I replaced cables from both sides and the EPB connection. I then tightened the cylinderical screw fully.

Do you mean the service position from
the armrest lever ? or by scan tool ?
I have done neither but am asking to give it a try.
