Low oil pressure alert

I have a 2016 Citroen Berlingo, 1600 Blue HDI, VIN VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]. Mileage is approximately 235,000 km. I have traveled around 6,000 km since the oil was last changed. Oil is typically changed every 10,000-15,000. For the last 3,000-4,000 km, once oil is at operating temperature, oil pressure LED and STOP signal will illuminate intermittently and momentarily at corners and roundabouts. Oil level is exactly at full. No history of burning oil. Is this a known issue? I am thinking possible causes could be a faulty oil pressure sender, blocked pick-up tube, or faulty pump. I would love to know if this is a known issue or if there might be other causes. Than You in advance.

I would change the oil filter - use a quality branded one and make sure it's fitted properly on the bottom spigot. Cheap ones / poorly fitted can result in low oil pressure.

Check the oil pressure switch connector in case it is dirty or loose or its wiring damaged. Could also be the switch is faulty and/or leaking needing replacement. If you have a code reader with live data you might be able to see what pressure it is giving.

Oil pump . Going round roundabouts and corners the car will lean hence oil will move away from the oil pump end and if the pump is weak due to general age wear and so on then your get that fluctuation of them warning lights.

If you have a buring oil smell then I'd say its the oil pressure sensor switch . Why the smell depending where the switch is e.g rear of engine then the oil at some point will hit the exhaust then burn then smell

Could be al these and more. The oil filter installation is a good model-specific shout.

Beyond fitting a new filter (which is so cheap you may as well), I would avoid doing anything other than fitting a mechanical pressure gauge, and test to confirm exactly what is going on with the oil pressure.

I had a c3 Picasso with same problem, I changed the oil grade, the oil pressure sensor switch , the pick up , which I renewed the sump old one was rusted to much, low and behold , it didn't do anything. When it needed a leak fixed on the rear of the cylinder head the only way to fix that was to take the enigine and box out in one , me plus 2 mechanic friends of mine on there free weekend fixed the leak, did the other jobs while this was all out the car , week before I purchased a new oil pump and thought why not while this engine is easier to work on with it in a hoist why not whip the old one out then pop the new one in , so it was done , once everything was put back together and oil added , the first start was done with the fuel rail injectors disconnected so the oil pressure could build up without engine bursting into life, then when the pressure was there, key off , plugged the fuel rail injectors back in , started the car as normal , no low pressure warning , and no more one driving.

Hes a tip , check the oil feed on the turbo as there is a little plastic filter inside which can degrade break up and let the oil pass through faster with no filtering happeningbat all the oil pressure will also change as the filter isn't there , not saying it could be that but ive also had another car with same issue and I found this happend to the car , I replaced the broken bit , its only plastic and pushes into this feed pipe some have a mesh some had a silly plastic set up with a filter on the end of it these break due to age . If you can get the whole feed pipe off check both ends , plus you can clean it while its off the car too
