C3 Ehdi 2013 gearbox issue

Good day All,
i have a ciroen c3 ehdi 2013 diesel which until recently have been a great drive. when driving recently will come with a gearbox fault but no code.
Happens when the car has ran for awhile or when in traffic. engine is swithed off for a while and when swithed on will be fine, sometimes the battery head is removed and solved the issue for awhile. the care drives fine with the gear selection ok. i have taken the car to the garage, dianosis done and no error/fault code detected say all ok. but fault still there any help please.

I am assuming you have an automatic gearbox, if so what type is it ?
What message are you getting to suggest there is a fault ?
Did you use a Citroen dealer to do the diagnostic check ?
Is the battery fully charged ? Before the first start of the day it should be 12.7 volts but if below about 12.5 volts it needs charging.

It comes up with "Gearbox fault repair", then a service light on the dashboard. I took it to a Citroen specialist, where they said they had checked and no code was detected.
They have asked to change the clutch plate/release bearing. Also, the battery voltage is ok. The gearbox is an EGS automated manual transmission. 1.4
