Programming Berlingo key

Unread post by Woodford »

Greetings all
I have a 2017 Berlingo
I have one working remote key
I have another spare blade for the vehicle
Is it possible to reprogram just the transponder side of things
I don’t need the remote locking feature
Would I still be able to lock the car from the drivers door
I probably can’t get the codes
So this is the easiest and cheapest option for me
Any ideas
TIA

Can you be a bit more clear as to what you are trying to achieve?

Do you have any keys that start the van? You didn't say. I.E. do you have a complete key? Are you trying to make a second key?

Unlocking the drivers door is purely mechanical. If you have the correct key blade, it will unlock the door.

You will need the engine ECU PIN to "code in" transponders. Used transponders that have NEVER been coded to that engine ECU can not be reused. Brand new only. These days the transponders are part of the remote central locking PCB. So that makes things difficult, not impossible, just difficult. It would be possible to create a key that just unlocks the door and starts the van...if that's what you are after. But it would be just as easy to make a complete key, transponder and central locking.

Biggest hurdle will be getting the engine ECU PIN code.

Do you know if there is a transponder in the key & has it ever been programmed to this van?
As said you can program a used transponder from a different car
What tool would you be using to program the key?
If its no Diagbox then many aftermarket programmers will extract the PIN code for you? Unfortunately Diagbox cant do this.

Ok thanks. Yes I wasn’t that clear. I have one complete key that unlocks and starts the van. The central locking on it is dodgy so I’ve taken the battery out and I just lock and unlock the driver’s door with the key . The central locking works with the key Works perfectly and I’m not fussed about remote central locking.
Now I would like to create a second key. Now all I have is the blade from the spare key. No internals or anything
What would be my best option. I don’t need central locking if it’s cheaper and easier and possible . I’m prepared to spend some money on a good key programmer. Not $4/5000 Aus for top of the range but I’ve seen a few Autel etc for around Aus $1000. Would they do the job. Would I be able to code other vehicle keys . Any suggestions as to which path I should follow. Thank you for your help. And on another note I would like to thank ( I think it was Wheeler ) who gave me the info on how to find a hidden obd port. When they installed the GPS tracker they hid the obd port in the most obscure location. Behind panelling. I had to feel around blindly until I could feel something and there it was. Still with the tracker attached. I have been looking for that for months. It made my day . 🙏🙏🙏

It depends what model Autel i suppose, I have the IM608 which can do this job no problem including reading the pin code
