Hi all,
Hoping someone can help clear up a genuine mix-up on my oil spec.
Car: Peugeot 2008 Estate 1.2 PureTech 130 GT, EAT8, engine code EB2ADTS
Reg: Year 2022, first registered 13/01/2023
Bought from a Peugeot dealer in Birmingham 3 months ago at 9k miles, now at 15k.
Low oil level warning came on, dipstick confirmed it was at minimum. Trying to work out the correct oil, but my two service documents disagree:
1. First service record shows an oil change at 4k miles using 0W-20.
2. Last service record shows oil change at 9k miles with a genuine Peugeot/Eurorepar part number, 1690921280, which corresponds to 5W-30 (B71 2290/2297 spec).
I checked the "Stellantis Recommended Engine Oils Updated February 2024" post here in this section, and for EB2ADTS/EB2ADTS M in Unit A (which includes Great Britain), the only approved oil listed is 0W-20, B71 2010. The 5W-30 B71 2297 approval for this same engine code only appears under Unit B (countries outside Europe).
Update: before I got to the bottom of this, I already topped up the low level with TotalEnergies Quartz Ineo RCP 5W-30 (approved to B71 2290/2297). So the sump now has a small amount of 5W-30 mixed into whatever was already in there (likely 0W-20 from the 4k service or 5w30 ).
Questions:
- Has anyone else run into this discrepancy between service records / genuine part numbers and the Stellantis-approved spec for this engine in the UK? Dealer error, or does Peugeot GB's own parts catalogue differ from the Stellantis document?
- I would prefer to full drain/refill with the correct oil so what do you recommend?
Please note that when i am checking on mpmoil website by putting the reg # it is showing Motor Oil 5W-30 Premium Synthetic ST
And also on eurocarparts it is showing same 5W-30 grades of Mobil 1 ESP Formula P 5W-30 or Castrol Magnatec P 5W-30 Engine Oil etc
Thanks in advance.

Re: Conflicting oil spec (0W-20 vs 5W-30) for 1.2 PureTech 130 EB2ADTS
As I recall following the high number of failures for this engine, Stellantis altered the spec from 0-20 to 5-30 which is indeed now the recommended option.
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Yes, I would go for 5W30 as well. But more important than the viscosity is the specification of that oil which should now be FPW9.55535/03. This replaces the previously recommended spec, B71 2290/2297, which is now deprecated for any wet belt engine.

I would visit your Peugeot dealer service desk and ask them for a printout of the latest service schedule which includes the oil spec. They should not charge for this one page sheet, I was not. You will need your vin/number plate number so they get the right car.
Note that the oil spec topic on here has not been updated due to the loss of access to the Stellantis data so may not reflect the latest oil specs.

Defo 5w 30 as with any enigine when they add miles to it a slightly thicker grade helps
