p0265 injector circuit high - brick wall

Unread post by RobM »

I have had this error for a couple weeks, intially I replaced the injector last week and all was great until Monday when it happened again after only 5 days.
Injector is out and have tested for short and OK, tested resistance on multi meter set at 200 Ohm and nothing. so looks like the new injector has blown.
I have checked the wiring harness purple wire injector end to ecu end and have continuity, same with other wire, which tells me the harness is good.
Also no visible wear on the cabling.

I am at a loss as what to do next, despite reading lots of topics and seeing several videos.

Did you replace the injector with a genuine part? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

It was a recon part from WTDiesel this one https://wtdiesel.com/products/citroen-c ... 9674973080.

Having looked at that link I'd suggest you contact them and ask for a replacement under the one year warranty :)

I have done that, however, I am worried that there may be an underlying issue and I cant afford to keep buying injectors

The best bet would be a diagnostic session with high end kit, ideally Diagbox, and see what codes come up, :)

What symptoms are there other than the fault code?

Could be unlucky with the injector, could be a control problem, eg, https://markstammersdiagnostics.com/ref ... injectors/

The Siemens injectors are known for being a bit crap. Check the resistance across the coil, and between coil and injector body. Really they need tested at the right voltages to be sure, but see what you get.

Did you replace the correct injector, Citroen number cylinders from the gearbox end and not the timing belt end as every other manufacturer ?

What engine/injection system is on the car. If 1.6E-HDI (or similar with a Continental system), the injectors are Piezo and rely on a high voltage to trigger them. Because of this resistance readings are mostly pointless as it only when the high voltage is present they breakdown.

The most common fault with them is the Piezo stack in the injector only have a finite life and stacks crack cause the circuit fault.

I always recommend new injectors as recon's normal have a used stack in them and so are often near end of there life anyway.

If you shop around you can find the injectors at a realistic price I replaced one on the daughter's 208 last year and using the Continental part no on the injector found that various fords used them a got a new OEM part for around £160

On that, I spent a fair bit of time crossreferencing the Continental/Siemens injectors, and there's a lot of commonality across Volvo, Ford, Citroen and Peugeot. There are multiple part numbers that when you reference back are all exactly the same thing.

The best source of truth I found was the Continental aftermarket catalogue.

(have a look through my older posts)

What is the engine code (digits 6-8 of VIN)
