hi
got 2008 xsara picassco 1.6 16 v manual battery fault got a new alternator new battery and still it wont charge still says battery fault checked belt power on alternor kicking out 13.8 volts but battery end seems to not receive it any ideas all

Are you saying that with a voltmeter across the alternator big output wire and earth you are seeing 13.8V but not across the battery positive and earth? If so what are you reading across the battery with the engine running?

as soon as i start the engine it just does not charge at all battery reads ok bout then starts to just power drain slowly i have charged the new battery over night checked the power ok so i thinking to trace the wire to look for breaks would old faults codes cause the it to play up or is there a rely somewere

Unfortunately my backup system does not have wiring diagrams for your particular model. However it does have a list of equipment which I'll attach here as it may be of some use. It does mention relays so I'd expect there is a charging relay which should switch the alternator output to the battery once it sees the charging voltage. That is my suggestion, not necessarily correct! Good luck.

Did you get the new alternator from Euro Crap Parts? If so don't rule out that being faulty straight out the box, not uncommon with their own RTX brand.
Have you checked the output voltage directly on the main positive terminal of the alternator? With the engine running Connect the positive of your meter directly to the main positive connection on the alternator & the negative directly to the alternator casing, what reading are you getting?
