I have a 2003 2.2 HDi Peugeot boxer (244 shape) on 102k that seems to pressurize the coolant, this results in a catch bottle (from coolant bottle over flow pipe) being filled and the low coolant light coming on anywhere from 50-250 miles, usually lasts longer if constantly rpm on motorway. Sometimes the light will come on when idle then go off again once back up to a constant rpm
It's my camper so dosnt actually get that much use and I've just been putting up with it for now and topping it up when ever I stop. It's been this way for several thousand miles now and hasn't given me an running issues in the slightest. Infact it actually runs beautiful if a little slow
But there is a definite problem and would now like to fix
So, I suspect either HG (no other HG related issues) or egr cooler.
Obviously the egr cooler by pass is the easier and first thing is like to try to see if this rectifies the problem before diving into a HG change (or at least trying steelseal first)
So the question:
How is it best to bypass the cooler? Just disconnect the two water pipes and reconnect with them together with a copper or similar tube? If so does anything need to be placed into the now open holes where the pipes once where?
Or blank it completely with proper blanking plates as well/instead of? If I blanked it properly does this need to be mapped out as was the case with my later 207 1.6 HDi?
If this fixes the issue I would probably remove the whole EGR system completely.
