After much research and fiddling around I've come here for some help and ideas. My 2011 Berlingo Mutlispace has been flashing the "Engine Fault" and "Risk of filter clogging" messages. After borrowing my friends Solus Ultra, I got P1434, P1435 and 0EB3 error codes, which all pertain to the diesel additive pump.
Dismounted the additive tank (part number 9672052180) from the car and found it completely empty, I know it was refilled less than 20k miles ago from the papers I inherited when I bought the car. So far so strange, the additive should last a lot longer than that. I took out the small pump (part number 2980 030 0001) and hooked it up directly to the car battery to test if it functions, it sounded clogged and didn't run.
Bought a bottle of additive to refill the tank and a new tank, after fitting this I reset the additive level and communicated that I had replaced the tank and additive liquid to the car through the OBD. Exact same fault codes show up
I then disconnected the three pin electrical connector that goes onto the tank and tested the pins for voltage with the engine running. The central pin (which is the LIN connector) has a steady 11.5V. As far as I've been able to test with my less than perfect setup and subpar electrical know how, the two pins on either side have no voltage running through them; I found a function to test the electrical circuit of the additive pump and even when running that test the voltage showed as near 0.
The fact that the additive tank was emptied in less than 20k miles indicates that at some point in the near past the pump (and hence electrical input to it) was functioning, and yet it doesn't now. If the tank wasn't empty I'd suspect a wiring fault somewhere along the line, but somehow the connection was functional enough to empty the tank and then stopped working? Any help or ideas are appreciated.
