Roof leak in 2016 jumper/boxer/ducato

Unread post by sneakyfox »

I have a leak above the drivers seat and after some testing it turns out that the water comes in at the joint shown on the picture, which I have learned from the local paint shop is actually a strip of silicone. Surprisingly it's not the windshield itself that is leaking.

It would be nice to repair it myself instead of paying 250€ to the shop so I am wondering if I can buy this strip of silicone as a part? Or is it something that's formed in the shop?

Or is there a better way to do it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I would just go over it with some clear silicone sealant.

Okay, do you think it will hold up over time as well?

It should last for some time provided the area is cleaned first and dry.

Thanks! I will consider that.

If anyone knows whether that silicone strip is a part or not it would still be great to know.
