C3 desire radio not working

I bought a c3 desire 05 plate off a relative recently and can’t figure out the radio for the life of me. It’s original radio that came with the car, it seems to turn on but crash/freeze almost immediately, cd player seems to work but no audio coming out and can’t use any controls. Checked all the fuses, bought an aftermarket wiring harness to try a different radio with. Am a bit lost now as I know the radios are paired with the vin of the car so that stops me picking one up from a scrapyard and seeing as the harness didn’t work with the aftermarket radio, I don’t believe it’s the radio that’s the issue

Take a look at the thumbnails here viewforum.php?f=44 and see if you can work out which audio system you have.

Recoding the VIN of a head unit of the same model is not difficult with access to a suitable diagnostic tool.

Your original post indicates that the head unit is recieving power, which should be most of what an aftermarket head requires to basically work.

I would suspect that the adapter lead is not correct for your car.
