I just called Chevronics as nobody contacted me and I'm feeling tearful, apparently she is in bits.... It was indeed a blown turbo pipe but know they're worried because I asked for a price for cambelt, water pump and Aux belt to be done as well. There worried it might turn into a money pit, which is rather reassuring as most garages wouldn't mention anything and just carry on. So apart from not contacting me since having the car booked in for Tuesday 9am it feels like they are concerned about the customer rather than just money grabbing.

The lack of communication is a little odd, they're usually pretty good about it. Regarding their advice, they've also stopped me from spending unnecessary money. I'll also say, they're perfectly fine with me sourcing my own parts so I've actually saved a lot of money that way too. Their suppliers wanted something like £800 per front strut for OEM parts for my X7. I managed to source an OEM pair for just under half the price of a single one of theirs. When they give you the price, have a hunt for the more expensive parts yourself and see if you can find them cheaper. If you do, then ask if they'd be willing to let you source them yourself (the answer for me so far has always been "yes").

Here's to hoping it's not a money pit.

Thanks for that advice, I've known a few garages in the past that refused to fit parts not supplied by themselves. I'll bear that in mind, I doubt they get parts from AutoDoc. I know a C8 is not a classic or respected in the community but it's my baby, 13 years together, so many memories from kids being 2 now 15yrs old. Some people think GS/GSA and Ami are nice cars, well their wrong, they just ugly.

I think they do order from AD as I've seen the odd AD box around reception and in the workshop when they've gone to show me things on the car. I know they don't use EuroFrance24 for some reason though as that's where I usually find the cheaper OEM stuff. No idea why though, they've been a perfectly reliable seller for me and I think they even have an Ebay front.

That's great info to know. I'll check them out. Hopefully the Chevronics name they've built for themselves isn't a hyped up myth. Like I said this will be a open honest review no prejudice involved. Just my experience only.

Little update, I got a WhatsApp message from Chevronics today. Yes, I said WhatsApp. They said they will call me tomorrow with a quote after the director has reviewed it. (Doesn't sound good). But it's great to see a garage using modern technology to communicate rather than just over a phone call. Thankfully they haven't sent me pictures of her in bits so I'm still in a good mood.

I received a WhatsApp from Chevronics yesterday clearly outlining the work it needed to my car. It was broken down into clear sections, that will cost blah+vat etc. Next section would be on another issue like the timing belt and crankshaft pulley with price and what could possibly go wrong if the bolts seized etc etc. Its nice to see modern technology being used as it's clear and understandable, my brain tends to turn to mush on a phonecall so this eliminates that and removes any possible misunderstanding in the process. Fair, open and honest prices and clear that some parts are difficult to get but they are searching. Their honesty in the difficulties of fixing my C8 is reassuring, rather than yes we can do this and that no problem.

I like the WA approach as well, really handy when I need to collaborate on parts sourcing with them.
