Citroen C5 X7 hydro strut

Hello,

I'm currently overhauling the entire front suspension on my Citroën C5 X7, and I've noticed that the lower protective cover on the hydraulic suspension strut is loose and no longer firmly attached.

Is this a sign that the entire hydraulic strut needs to be replaced, or can the protective cover simply be reattached so I can continue using the car safely?

I've attached a photo for reference.

As long there's no leak, you can still use this one, the hose is nothing else to prevent dust and water, so put it back with some kit.
