Driveshafts C5 X7 3.0 HDI

Unread post by Bury »

Hello!
I'm struggling with a vibration problem throughout the car :/ I've eliminated almost everything. Time for the driveshafts.
I'd appreciate any advice on which manufacturer and which driveshafts (both) you recommend. I'll also replace the axle support bearing with an SKF one, of course.
It's quite urgent, and I can't decide on the correct length for both driveshafts.
I live in Poland, so it's best to find the parts locally. However, if there are reliable and good parts somewhere in Europe, I could import them. I drive a C5 X7 3.0 HDI ;)
Best regards!

Do the active engine mounts (torque control mounts) not cause this problem in the V6's....I seem to recall this being a problem.

How have you come to the conclusion it is the driveshafts ?

I was thinking of replacing all the engine mounts after I'd done the less invasive work.

If I were to replace the engine mounts, I'd also like to replace the steering rack, as it also has the same symptoms as shown in this video:

(By the way, what could be wrong with it? A return valve?)

Currently, I'm leaning towards a damaged driveshaft support bearing. The sound is similar to the one in the video at about the 25-second mark:
