Help! 2.0hdi C4 Grand spacetourer bleeding

Unread post by Paul73 »

Hi

I successfully (eventually) replaced the thermostat housing and heater feed pipe on our car and bled the system using the scre at the bulkhead and the rigid plastic pipe fitting at the front of the thermostat.

All seemed well on the drive and there was some heat coming through the vents and the fan kicked in and cycled back off.

Took the cr for a drive yesterday to get some heat into it and it boiled the coolant again. Temp on the feed hose from the rad to the the stat was circa 100 degrees (using a pizza oven thermometer!) but the heater feed hose was at 35 degrees.

Someone has suggested that I must use a diagnostic tool to force the stat to open the bleed it. Is that the case?

I have a vacuum bleed kit but will that not be sufficient?

I just want the flipping car to be fixed now :)

Open the bleed screws again, water or air?

Maybe the Water pump? I think these engines have plastic impeller that falls off the shaft. Could also be the head gasket...

When filling the coolant did you use a tool to raise the level above the expansion tank to help get the air out ? if not have a read of this as it is easy to make one at minimum cost https://citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro ... nd-4222-t/
