Flipping thing rattling particularly at idle.
Sat on rubber mounts, one of which has disappeared, peg on cylinder head cover is fretting through the rubber mount's hard plastic ring (part of the lid)
Inexplicably, bottom half is split into two parts, clipped together. Clips loose not holding, rattling.
Inside is a support bar, H shaped, clipped in, loose, rattling!
Connection to inlet elbow, clipped in, rattling! (Stuck in with black silicone previously)
Next connection, push fit clip in, rattling!
There's likely a nice quiet diesel engine under this flipping thing dancing away on top!
Pulling the two halves together, this is the "flat surface" the filter is expected to sit against:
Soldering iron on, am going to try and plastic weld the two halves together. Not sure about the filter seat step, but make that as best I can.
Internal H shape cable ties on.
Will try and graft some fresh plastic on the rubber mount ring. Tried hot glue gun previously but it's eaten through that like butter.

(Previously machined the internal webs as, well, have a compulsion to try and improve anything I lay my hands on! Here's inside the lid, similarly fiddled with:

Must be the time to sort out the annoying niggles. I knew Christmas had a purpose.
This arrived.

Our 3008 inexplicably had no scuttle drain on the offside. We only found this out when the windscreen was replaced a few months ago. Then the rainy season started, again, and the driver's side floor was getting wet, again, if I didn't put the cover over the windscreen.
Ting! That moment when you join the dots and stop blaming the door weatherseals.
Maybe, just maybe, the car needs that drain hose after all.

Amazingly, I wiggled the tube in with the aid of Fairy liquid and a pokey thing. Book says " remove headlight, remove wipers, remove scuttle trim" Hmmmm!
Anyway, with boiling water to soften the rubber and Fairy liquid it was fairly easy to wiggle the tube into place. Phew!

And why did the small, short tube arrive in a huge box?
It was still attached to a complete scuttle trim.
The whole thing including delivery to my door cost way less than the £41 PSA want for the drain tube alone.
So, if anybody wants a "free" windscreen scuttle trim (without drain tubes), let me know.
Better be quick though. It is currently lying next to the trailer awaiting the next tip run.
Well done Matt. It is truly the time to sort out all our niggles in time for a peaceful New Year.

Stick it on eBay as is described accurately, potential for a free fix there!Dormouse wrote: 03 Dec 2022, 14:22 The whole thing including delivery to my door cost way less than the £41 PSA want for the drain tube alone.

I just did this fix (see attached pictures).
Mine was worn out (270k km).
It should hold fit some time.

Yep, looks like a good bodge repair.
