Xsara Picasso rear wiper won't switch off

Hello, I imagine this is possibly a known issue with these, but any obvious things I can do myself? The rear wiper turns on when you unlock the car (ignition obviously off), then takes about 10-15 sweeps to finally turn off with an accompanying 'click-click' noise from the fuse board every sweep. Wiper also comes on in reverse whether front wipers on or off, and removing the fuse makes no difference!! Also parks in various positions when it does eventually come to rest. Makes no difference if the key is in the ignition either.

We had this on a 2003 C3 and replacing the wiper motor with another used one fixed it. You could also check its wiring and earth are in good condition, especially where it goes between the tailgate and body.
