C4 2010 MOT Failure Delights

Unread post by admiral51 »

I had a feeling my C4 would fail its MOT today, was expecting the previous years advisories to be the issue.
However it didn't fail on any of them, they are not even advisories this time :? :?
It did fail on the rear centre seat belt buckle not locking correctly, ok my fault i have a 38kg dog that likes to trample over everything when in the back.
Oh boy was i not ready for the ££££ to replace it.
From Citroen £220.51p

Now this is the thing that bothers and pleases me, i actually phoned Citroen to ask them to give me a quote and the parts guy was really helpful. He told me that whilst the stock level was Green availability was Amber, they use a traffic light system and as such he was allowed to give me the part number.
I am used to Citroen part numbers but he gave me 8976C6 and i had to ask him to repeat it as it made no sense.
I have since googled and found what i believe is the correct part by using 8976C6 and looking at the markings on the rear of the parts to match with other listings.
I have bought a second hand one, it is the double buckle type and has the plug for £27 delivered.
I will get the car back tomorrow and then i can remove the original and see what the part numbers are. It will go back for retest once i get it sorted but just wanted to see if anyone else has had similar experiences with part numbers

Bad luck on that Colin, a real pain when it is something you probably never use anyway! :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Well Mick actually i do, but not with the seat belt itself. I have been doing some digging and it is probably my fault. Not sure but looking at it the center belt latch is different from the outer seat latches so you cannot put the outer ones into the center ( Caviate i think they refer to lap belts ) but i have been putting Burgess's car seat harness attachment into the center buckle so he can move between both rear passenger windows but still secured.
If i get lucky then i will be well pleased 😂

8976C6 is the type of part number used some time ago and they now use longer ones of about 10 numbers. 8976 means a seat belt and the C6 is the particular one.

Well thanks for the part number conformation, i was getting worried for a little bit :rofl2:

The part arrived this afternoon and has been fitted and works perfectly. All i need to do now is get it re tested which i cannot do until Wendnesday as the MOT tester is away on holiday but still have the MOT valid until end of play Wednesday :-D :-D

I bought the part from BreakerYard.com. I ordered it around 4pm Tuesday, arrived at 3pm today and comes with a 3 month warranty.
Saved myself over £190 on the part and maybe £60 for fitting if i had left it at the garage =P~ =P~

That's got to be a good outfit to keep a note of Colin. Delighted you had such great service from them and that all is now good :-D
