More Adblue Issues

Unread post by spacebiscuit »

Hi,

Re 2018 1.5 diesel DS7

This very weekend last year after 30 mile journey I had an Adblue warning which I was unable to clear by topping up. The upshot was I had a replacement tank fitted last August. Car has been fine until this weekend, same destination and the fault has returned.

Fault says top up required and another flash up emission fault repair required, and 200 miles left I have put approx 7 litres in to fill, I've started the car and driven around the block but no change. I've not had any warning previous so have not topped it up.

Any ideas. Repair was with a local trusted mechanic not authorised garage.

Thanks.

It needs checking for any fault codes, it might not be the tank this time, it could be the NOx sensor or something else. Look in the exhaust tail pipe to see if it is white from excess adblue being injected.

Once it gets down to 0 miles left you will not be able to start the car so it needs sorting soon.

Thanks that is helpful, didn't think about that. I did check with a cheap scanner and the ECR (?) sensor has a $87 check which shows as failed.

Usually when there's a fault the countdown starts at 700 miles; if it has started at 200 might indicate a level sensor fault in the tank. Needs a decent scanner to see what's going on.

So yes, yesterday I was convinced that last year the countdown started at about 700 miles, then doubted myself but this reply likely confirms I wasn't imagining it.

I'd the sensor part of the tank, or an independent part?

Car is due it's Mot Wednesday so I will pass the info on to the mechanic. Thanks

Could ECR be EGR? That's the exhaust gas recirculation valve.

Sadly with the engine fault showing it will be an mot failure. :x

Very likely it was EGR - I was struggling to read it.
