Hello all,
I hope you’re managing okay in this hot weather.
I’m experiencing an issue with my Citroën C5 X7 (2.2L diesel) and would appreciate any guidance.
Symptoms:
The audio system (radio, USB, Bluetooth) intermittently stops producing sound.
The display continues to show the station/music playing, but there is no audio output.
The turn signal indicator sound (“tick-tock”) is extremely quiet—almost inaudible over the fan when set to full speed.
There is a persistent ticking noise, similar to a relay, coming from around the steering column area.
This noise stops when the car enters economy mode or when the vehicle is locked.
When in economy mode, the ticking resumes as soon as a door is opened, then stops again shortly after.
The noise is also present when the engine is running.
Checks already carried out:
Battery voltage measured at 13.6V
BSI reset performed (no change)
I do have diagnostic equipment available to read fault codes, but I’m unsure which ECUs or parameters I should focus on for this type of issue.
Has anyone encountered similar symptoms or can suggest where to start looking?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Jack

Re: C5 X7 Ticking relay noise
Your battery voltage reading is a bit off the norm. With everything switched off you should see 12.7V across a good battery. With the engine running you should see over 14V, unless maybe you have a smart alternator in which case I don't know!!
A continual clicking of a relay usually means insufficient current to hold it operated so look for poor connectors in the area.
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
